Fibonacci Books
Do you remember a post from last term about the Fibonacci Sequence. Well, after much hard work here are our first few books that have been completed. Remember, the sequence goes 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8,.... We have only used the first 6 numbers in our books. After reading the book Growing Patterns by Sarah Campbell, we went and took photos in nature that reflected the sequence. Most of us managed to do this. Then we had to write a piece of descriptive writing or very, very, very small narrative that related to our photo using the sequence. So our book has only 20 words. Pages 1 & 2 have one word each, page 3 has two words, page 4 has 5 words and page 6 has 8 words. Sounds easy but it wasn't. Our writing had to make sense, not repeat any word and not be a list of adjectives. As you can see from the photos that our books don't look like regular books either. We used the sequence to design the book as well. We had to go back to using inches when measuring the size of the pages to make them workable though. The next step was to create the supporting art work which had to extend out from the photo. The finishing touches were gluing on the photo and words and making. We are really proud of our books and think they look really awesome. Mrs Hepi got this idea from Sarah Campbell and her iPad app.
