Simple Machines, part 1/2
In class we have been looking at videos about simple machines.
We learned that the two basic machines are the incline plane and the lever.
A screw is an twisted inclined plane wrapped around a pole which holds things together or lifts materials.
A see-saw, spoon, hammer, and the list goes on, are all levers.
A pulley is a simple machine that uses, wheels and a rope to raise, lower or move a load.
A wheel and axle is a wheel with a rod called a axle through its centre. It lifts or moves loads.
But anyway, there are a lot of simple machines. An inlined plane is a slanting surface connecting a lower level to a higher level.
A simple machine is an elementary device that has a specific movement (often called a mechanism), which can be combined with other devices and movements to form a machine.
