At the end of every year Year 6 students go out to Ruakaka Beach for Beach Ed which is run by experienced surf life savers. Room 19 went with Room 16 and we sure did learn a lot about being safe at the beach. Not only did we learn about safe swimming (swimming between the flags, what to do if you do get caught in a rip and identifying the different types of waves), we also learned about sun safety and all the different jobs a surf life save does. We had a great day, the weather was just perfect, not too hot and not to0 cold. We played beach games as well as boogie boarding and using some of the life saving gear.
