Week 1 - Immersion

During immersion week each class in our whanau went to a different whanau teacher to experience the stories, music, dances and art of different cultures.  In Room 16,  we learned more about the Aboriginal culture.  In our other whanau classes we celebrated stories and arts from the Indian, Samoan and Maori cultures.  On Friday, the whole school took part in a Celebration Parade.  Most of us came to school in a traditional costume and just before lunch we had a huge parade,  We also had performances from difference cultural groups represented in our school.  A highlight of the day was the when the whanau leader released lots of helium balloons that took our prayers to heaven.
