Every year Mrs Hepi's class makes lolly leis for our annual gala sweet stall. Years ago we use to make them with glad wrap and although they looked quite pretty, using glad wrap was not at all eco-friendly. About four years ago, one of our mum's designed a new lei using harakeke - flax and we have been making them like that ever since.
This year, we got together with Room 11 and made just over 300 leis in a few hours. Can you imagine this? 65 children, 4 teachers and parents, metres of harakeke and bags and bags and bags of lollies. Very noisy but very productive!
