Comic Life

As part of our reading programme we have been adapting some of the journal stories we have read during the term into comic strips. We have some really good artists in our class and we thought we would use their skills to show our understanding a story in a different way.
What we had to do was this...
1. Choose a favourite journal story and re-read it.
2. We were suppose to make a storyboard so that we knew what parts of the story we were going to illustrate (methinks that this step was avoided by a few!).
3. We then had to draw a blackline drawing of each part of the story which was then scanned.
4. The scanned drawing which by this time was a JPEG was then imported in to Kid Pix to be coloured.
5. The coloured Kid Pix then had to be exported as a JPEG and dropped into iPhoto.
6. The next step was to create a Comic Life to tell the story using our coloured drawings. We had to use text boxes and speech bubbles to complete the comic strip.
7. The last stage was editing - checking for spelling mistakes and making sure that everything makes sense.

As a final check that we have done a good job of adapting the story we asked someone to read our comic strip then compare it with the original journal story.
