Lolly Leis
For many years Mrs Hepi has been making lolly leis for our school gala and this year was no exception. This was the third year we have been making our leis out of harakeke (flax). One of our gala mum's came to our class and showed us how to make the leis as well as teaching us the protocols around the harvesting of harakeke and then the disposal of the scraps. This year Rooms 18 and 11 helped us which was awesome. Before our harakeke leis we used to use glad wrap but we decided it was not environmentally friendly and a harakeke lei was designed. This is in keeping with our Silver Enviro School status as well.
