Taonga Project

We all had to study the arts of  the culture we most relate too.  Our first task was to construct a family tree to help us decide which cultural arts we were going to study.  The second task was to give a brief overview of the important fact of the country associated with the culture we were studying.  Then, we had to do in depth research about the arts that are important to our culture.  Finally, we had to give an oral presentation to support our static display or digital presentation.  We were all really good at the first two tasks but most of us needed to do more research about the specific arts associated with our chosen culture.  We decided that reading and then following the task criteria would have helped us.

After listening to all the presentations, we learned so much about a huge range of cultures (all of which are represented by students in our class).  We had projects about the cultures in New Zealand, Croatia, Scotland, England, Cornwall, Norway, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, Samoa, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Fiji and the Philippines.
