Last Friday Room 15 (and the whole senior syndicate) made ice cream as part of our Change unit. We had a great time and we were learning at the same time. We really want to thank Louise (one of our school parents) who spent the day with us teaching us what to do. Mrs J made sure we had everything we needed - sugar, milk, vanilla, salt and ice.
After Louise showed us what to do, we all went outside to make our own ice cream. It was really amazing when we put the salt and ice together how much colder it got, so cold that it stung our hands.
First, we had put the ingredients in a small ziplock bag that was then put into another ziplock bag (so the salty ice didn't get into our ice cream ingredients). Once that was sorted we put the ingredient bags into a big supermarket bag full of ice and salt. To make the ingredients turn into ice cream we had to to shake those bags for ages and ages. The best thing was that we got to eat our experiment. Yummy!
