On Friday (24 of Feb) we hopped on the bus to go to Pompallier Catholic College for our annual swimming sports. When we arrived we settled down under the sun shelter and got ourselves ready for the racing.
. Mrs Gunson called us up for our races and Mr Werder was the starter. We had to line up in lots of six and wait our turn to race.
Mrs Gunson called up the Year 6 boys for breaststroke. When I (Sam) dived in it was freezing cold. I swam really hard and was neck and neck with Cale (I think). It was a close race.
Mrs Gunson called up the Year 6 Girls for freestyle. I lined up, waited for Mr Werder to clap the clappers. In I dived, it was still freezing cold. I was way out in front in my heat and I qualified to go to the inter school swimming champs. So did Sam and William from Room 19.
Just before we had to pack up to go back to school everyone jumped in for a free swim. The people who had not raced really felt the cold but the racers were okay.
It was an awesome day.
