Systems, Systems, Systems

At the beginning of the term the teachers arranged lots of different activities and happenings at school to introduce our study of systems. On the first day back at school we had an assembly in the Parish Hall. Mrs Pene showed us a slide show about lots of different systems to get us thinking about what a system is.

Then on Wednesday we went back to the Parish Hall again. This time it was full of toys and games to play with. There were train sets, marble runs, building and construction games to name a few. We made lots of things with pulleys, levers, gears and cogs as well as building some awesome constructions with Polydron and Lego. We had a great time as you can see on the slideshow.

Finally on Friday, Mr McKernan arranged a 'special' fire drill with the actual firemen and fire engines turning up at school. We saw them in action 'saving' one of our students. The police came to show us how the different emergency services work together. It was all very exciting especially when the firemen had to leave to go to a 'real' emergency.
