Forces

If you want to know about forces and how they make things move, Isaac Newton is your man. When he was wondering about gravity and the movement of the planets he discovered THREE simple laws that describe how forces make things move. These three laws can be applied in some way to almost everything.

THE FIRST LAW:

An object that isn't being pushed or pulled by a force with stays still or keeps moving in a straight line at a constant speed.

THE SECOND LAW:

Forces make things accelerate. The bigger the force, and the lighter the object the greater the acceleration

THE THIRD LAW:

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction

We got this information from a reading called "It's the Law' and have been trying to apply these laws to everything we see moving!

We conducted some experiments involving objects, light and sound moving. One of the things we had to do was explain which of Newton's Laws applied and why. We are getting pretty good at doing this.
