Holy Week is an important part of our catholic story. It begins on Sunday, with Palm or Passion Sunday. Some of us helped Mrs J cut the palms ready for mass. On Tuesday, Bishop Pat and all the priests from Tai Tokerau came and celebrated the Chrism Mass at our church. This is when the holy oils are blessed and then given to representatives from each of the parishes in the north. On Wednesday, we celebrated Mass as part of the Holy week celebrations.
During our RE lessons about Jesus, we have been learning about Jesus being fully human and fully divine as well. We looked up lots of scriptures that recorded Jesus being just like us, having the same human needs, emotions and feelings. We then read the Transfiguration story, which helped us understand his divine self.
