Reading

During our reading sessions, we have been reading articles about the way scientists work.  So far between all our groups we have read about science and gardening, animal super senses, rising sea levels, fresh water mussels, photosynthesis, the carbon cycle and the effect on the environment caused by the stranding of the Rena.   We have learned that scientists observe their subjects (they do a lot of observing), they collect data and information which they then use to make decisions or plans.  They also make predictions, compare and contrast and often get their hands dirty.  We need these skills so that we can behave like scientist when we start our study of pattern in the living world.
