Writing - Healthy Teeth

This year our writing focus is explanation.  We have been writing a piece together called Healthy Teeth.  We have been learning how to brainstorm and then organise our ideas.  This is part of the planning process and is really helpful if you don't want to forget anything.  It also helps you make sure your ideas are put into groups that will help you write your paragraphs later.  Writing a good introduction is really important as it is what makes people want to read your writing.  Lots of us had trouble with this as we tried to put in ALL the information.  Then we wrote two paragraphs, one about eating good food that will help keep your teeth healthy and the other about caring for your teeth.  The final step was to write the conclusion without adding any new ideas.   The idea of writing together is to give everyone confidence to write an explanation as well as learning about keeping our teeth healthy.
