To get us to start thinking about innovation we were given 2 sheets of newspaper to build a tower. We had to design a tower that would stand tall and independently for a minimum of 30 seconds. Our first go was not as successful as we would have hoped. Only some of the groups managed to get their tower to stand up by itself but they weren't very tall.
After identifying and then reflecting on what the problems were, we had a second attempt. This time we knew we needed to make the base wider and the upper part of our tower narrower. Everyone built a much high tower on the second go.
