Our thoughts about Rosie Boom's visit, her books and her stories.

My favourite story from Rosie Boom was Where Lions Roar at Night.  Rosie Boom and her family had just moved into a barn on a farm.  So it was their first night at the barn and it was very old so there was probably rats and Rosie didn't like rats.  That night they wore mosquito nets over them.  Then in the middle of the night Rosie Boom heard something so she woke up her husband and said, "Wake up, wake up!"  He woke up and Rosie said, "What's that sound?" because she was terrified.  Her husband said, "It's just the wind, go back to sleep."  Then at 2:00 in the morning, her daughter woke up.  "Mum, I just heard a sound," and her mum said, "What sound?" and her daughter said, "Listen!"  So it was all quiet and there was the sound again.  So, Rosie woke up her husband again and said, "What's that sound?"  The daughter woke up her brothers and asked what the sound was and one of them said it was the lions.  They all started laughing but he said, "No really, there's a lion zoo over the hills.  The little one said, "Mum, what if a lion escapes at night and comes and eats us?"  Rosie said, "They won't."  Then they all went back to bed.

When Rosie Boom was living on the farm, one time it was night.  They heard rustling.
"What was that?" asked Rosie Boom, awoken by the noise.
"Go back to sleep.  It was nothing," said Chris, her husband.  Then Rosie heard it again.  The sound happened a third time and this time Chris heard it too.  He laughed.
"That sound is just the lions," said Chris.
"Don't be silly," said Rosie, "There aren't any lions around here!"
"What about the lion park up the road?" said Chris.

I chose this story because I thought it was quite funny and cool to have lions up the road.

The best thing that Rosie Boom told us, was about when she had a pet crocodile when she was 10 (or 7).  His name was Harry and he lived right next to where Rosie and her family were staying.  One day, Rosie's dad went to a school and one boy was missing.  Rosie's dad asked where he was and the teacher said that his head had been bitten off by a crocodile.  In a flash he went home and cut off Harry the crocodile's head.  And that was the last that anyone saw Harry the Crocodile.

Rosie Boom went to Papua New Guinea and she had a pet crocodile.  Even though it was small it was a bit vicious.  So they just had to keep an eye on him.  Meanwhile, Rosie crossed a log and she fell into it.  Rosie's sister got her dad to come and Rosie broke 7 parts of her leg.  Sadly, Rosie's dad chopped off the crocodiles head.

My favourite book was Where the Lions Roar at Night because it's the only one I can remember.  I thought it was interesting because...
"I just heard something, it sounded like rats!"
"Go back to sleep."
In the morning, her daughter said, "Did you hear that?  Was it rats?"
'No, it was lions!!!"

I though it was a little bit exciting and that's why I like it.

I like When Lions Roar at Night because it was funny and enjoyable and I like the part when Jacob said, "I will shoot the lion with my bow and arrow."

My favourite story from Rosie Boom was how they had a pet crocodile and when they got to school the teacher said that one of the students got eaten by a crocodile.  So when Mr Boom got home he chopped off the crocodiles head.

When Rosie was a child she lived in Papua New Guinea. Rosie and her family had a pet crocodile! Even though he wasn’t very big, he was a bit vicious. One day, a child was eaten by a rogue crocodile. Rosie’s dad came straight home and chopped off their pet crocodile’s head! He was worried that it would grow up and do the same thing. The family decided that it probably wasn’t such a good idea to have a crocodile for a pet. I liked this story because I think it is pretty unusual to have such a dangerous pet. It was also a different type of pet story, most people don’t chop off their pet’s head!
